Hello There, as you know, my name is The Woman Who Writes.

Now, every year since I created my website. I like to write an end-of-year review. It's like a Spotify wrapped for the year. It is where I talk about my favourite things in TV shows for 2024 and also what I'm looking forward to in 2025. Because I have been researching online, it will be an excellent lineup for the second half of this year's TV season.

So, Let's dive into my last-minute review for 2024 for The Woman Who Writes,

2024 has been another challenging year. I just had to overcome some significant hurdles, and I could watch new & my favourite shows. To help distract my mind from the real world. And those sneaking evil thoughts as well.

Watching TV in 2024 was used as a distraction. It was still a slow process to sift through all of my favourite seasonal TV shows that were up for review.

After the year I had, I had just been behind the eight-ball in all aspects of my little hobby project.

I made an executive decision in late 2024 so I could start focusing on reviews for TV shows from the 2023/2024 TV season. The new 2024/2025 TV season shows are fascinating to watch and explore.

Even though I had a lacklustre year in TV watching, I still watched more foreign dramas than ever. Then, I watched English-speaking shows because the foreign market offered more enjoyable and good TV shows.

I still watched my usual legacy shows, like the One Chicago, NCIS, Bridgerton, etc.

However, the 2022 to 2024 TV seasons were dull regarding creative topics and storylines.

It could be down to some legacy shows shifting their overall stories & characters; the writers & actors of our favourite TV shows were on strike for 148 Days. This created the shorter seasons of these legacy shows, so they were out on time for the 1st half of the 2024 TV season.

Or It could be that I haven't seen any good or new English-speaking TV shows from the 2023/2024 collection that match my tastes or likes.

Nevertheless, let's look at the shows I watched in 2024 & where I like to think where I can go in 2025. come on, let me show you.

In the first three months of 2024, I watched things like the first season of Outlander, The Gentleman, & The Diplomat. Also, I check out the shows like Will Trent and FBI: Original S5.

However, foreign dramas, including The K Dramas, The Wedding Impossible, Doctor Slump, and Heartbeat, were the big hits during this period. A new C Drama in 2024 called My Boss. I was in a dark mindset and watched some of my favourite K and C dramas. But in the few months after that, I did start to check out some new shows from the 2023/2024 TV collection, and I watched the first season of Maxton Hall, The Last Thing He Told Me, NCIS: Sydney, Halo and the last and final season of Archer.

I had that all-time low over the winter, where I did not focus on new shows or any reviews. I Bought DVDs from Good, Old eBay and brand new from Sanity. And I watched more of Outlander, Halo, children's classic Bluey and the first two episodes of Homeland on DVD.also I watched new shows like My Lady Jane, Mallorca Files and I threw in S1 of Clarkson Farm, Star Trek: New Worlds and Batman: The Caped Crusader, also, in my watching of K and C dramas. I found a good drama called Moving on Disney +.

I did like the shows I watched during this period. There are honourable mentions, But they are just not my taste.,

These are You're My Secret, the first few episodes of Sullivan Crossing, Welcome to Wrexham, Marry My Husband +, and Sweet Mobster.

So, from early September to the 24th of December, as of writing, I finally decided to catch up on more of those shows from the 2023/2024 TV season that I have not seen yet, like S4 of 9-1-1:Lone-star, S6 of FBI: Original, S11 of Chicago Fire, and many others. But I did complete some reviews for a few shows. I have them slated to be released around mid-January of 2025.

As I catch up on those seasons of my current shows, I have decided to go back into the forest of new, current, and ended shows. I wanted to find new shows, as I had not seen enough English-speaking ones in 2024. Also, to change it up, my foreign dramas were getting dull, especially some of the ones from 2024.

I have a rule when watching new shows. I watch the pilot (EP 1) to see if it captures my attention.

If I like the episode, I watch the first 4 -5 eps, & if that doesn't meet my high expectations, I drop it like a hot potato & then move on to the next one.

Some of the shows I dropped were The Lord of Rings: Rings of Power, Snowpiecer, What We Do in the Shadows and others.

However, I did find hidden gems in the rough: X-Men 97, Mr Robot, Bump, and a few others.

I continued to watch them after the first four eps & found them interesting and different from what I watch on TV or streaming.

Do you remember I still have favourite and comfort shows like NCIS, Bones, and New Girl? I have finally walked into the world of re-watching podcasts for old TV series, which allowed me to get more insight into my favourite comfort shows.

So, if you have an old and favourite show you love and want to learn more about what the actors and creators of your favourite show thought, go look up these podcasts and listen.

Let's round up my recap for 2024 with my favourite & disliked shows. which could have been new, current & older shows I'm very keen to watch. as I have few that I have watched in 2024

My favourite episode from 2024:

The Sign From Bluey

it's the series finale of Bluey. This episode is a beautiful, fitting end to an iconic children's series. As a massive fan of the show, I would like to see more Bluey episodes.

But I believe this episode will be the final swan song of the series.

What was your favourite series, moment or episode in 2024? Let me know in the comments below or over on BlueSky.

With that, let's look at my favourite things that I'm looking forward to in 2025. I have a few things.

Because I believe that the 2023/2024 TV season has been, it can be seen as a transition period. where actors, writers, and show creators are leaving their jobs behind due to creative burnout or moving on to new projects that have captured their creative needs.

Even though we are seeing a massive exodus on the creative side of the TV industry, which I believe has led to some legacy shows like One Chicago, FBI and The SVU.

Going back to the show's roots to recapture their former audience or removing unrealistic storylines that don't align with the show, as they focus on prioritizing quality over quantity.

The 2023/2024 TV season was short for many reasons, which allowed the show creators and writers to tighten the belt on the show and have the quality storylines that these shows have been missing for a while.

Even though the 2024/2025 TV season is going to be longer. to be honest, I'm hopeful for a good season of shows in 2025. but as the seasons return to the regular length of what they used to be.

I am scared that we will lose that good storywriting. This will lead to bad storylines that are over-produced and boring. we will have to wait & see what pans out

2025 is a year of finally being up-to-date with all of my current and favourite shows and finding new gems in the streaming wars of media. So, let's look at what current shows are on the air that I'm looking forward to jumping back into.

First, I would like to dive back into the universes of NCIS, FBI, 9-1-1, Bridgerton, and One Chicago, as there is much more to explore. I'm also looking forward to watching the new seasons of The Diplomat, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (S2), The Final Season of Superman and Lois, S.W.A.T., Finally, Bump (AU) and many others on my list.

Secondly, even though I'm keen to watch my current favourite shows in 2025, I'm just looking forward to exploring the universes of shows that come out in 2024. And the ones coming out in 2025.

Because it's an exciting new feeling to watch good new shows.

So, with that, I will give you a top 20 list of new shows I'm excited about in 2025, in no particular order.

Even though I have been behind on most of my reviews & watching my favourite current TV shows for a while,

2024 has still been a good year for me to watch the box. It has taken my mind off the real world & the drama in my head.

It still left me feeling good, from watching old shows that were new to me to watch my favourite current show's latest season.

I might not have seen the popular ones from 2024, but I have added them to the never-ending watch list for 2025 to see what I think of these shows.

Other than that, it's time to give 2024 the boot. and to prepare ourselves for what the writers, actors, and show creators will show us in 2025. Because we are going to be in for a rollercoaster ride.

As the Woman Who Writes celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2025, I'm excited to bring my new thoughts about my favourite TV shows to our little community here & on Blue Sky. and TV Time.

Because 2025 is the beginning of a new era here at The Woman Who Writes website.

Have A Safe & Happy, fulfilling New Year.

I will see you in 2025
